The Best Luxury Hotel in Santorini
In this blog post, I will be sharing with you the best luxury hotel in Santorini. If you are looking for that 5 star luxury hotel experience as seen in Vogue, complete with a plunge pool, and the best seats in the house for a view of the caldera (yes the 3 blue domes included), then look no further than the Sophia Oia View. Its centrally located, only minutes from markets, shops and restaurants. Whether you’re on your honeymoon, romantic getaway, or simply want to spoil yourself, this is the hotel for you!
It was always my dream to visit Greece, more specifically Santorini. Knowing this, my fiancé surprised me by booking the superior cave suite for our engagement.
I’ll begin with the cave pool, because lets face it, that’s probably what you’re all here for, and what makes this the best luxury hotel in Santorini.
There are three types of rooms: the cave room, superior cave room, and superior cave suite. Each comes with a plunge pool which differs slightly. We stayed in the superior cave suite.
The pool is heated, and has lights and jets which can be turned on and off at your convenience. These features made it the perfect romantic nightcap spot for us.
From here, you can enjoy stunning views of the Caldera, while sipping the complimentary wine provided by the hotel upon arrival.
Honestly, if you’re on the fence about whether or not a pool is necessary, take the plunge (no pun intended). It truly is worth the splurge, and makes this once in a lifetime experience even more memorable.
The room was incredible spacious and included a queen-size bed, two sofa beds, minibar, bathrobes, slippers, rain shower, safe, a/c, and wifi. If you’re familiar with travelling around Europe, you know that hotel rooms are generally pretty small, even boutique hotels. So to come across a room of this size (40sqm) was incredibly exciting for us.
Behind the main living area you will find an additional room with a second sofa bed, and all your amenities. I appreciated the fact that they provided a full length mirror as well as a generous size fridge.
Like the rest of the suite, the bathroom was absolutely gorgeous with the organic sinks and shower, and basketweave feature on the wall. Everything about this suite was aesthetically pleasing without being overdone. It’s obvious a lot of thought was put into the dĂ©cor.
The staff was extremely professional and helpful. They met us outside of our previous hotel, and assisted us with our luggage all the way to our suite. They provided us a list of the best restaurants, and were available anytime we needed them. They also checked in periodically to make sure we were satisfied with how our stay was going, and were very accommodating.
Over all, the experience was a 10/10 in my book, and by far the best service and accommodation duo I’ve ever experienced.
You’re probably familiar with the photos on social media of girls running down a flight of stairs with the domes in the background. Well in reality tourists wait in a queue for hours to take that photo.
So having the 3 blue domes right at our terrace was the best feature we could have ever asked for, and yet another reason why this is the best luxury hotel in Santorini.
We got to take as many photos as we wanted, uninterrupted and without the pressure of dozens of people waiting their turn.
Don’t miss an opportunity to wake up early and sip coffee while watching the sunrise. We took some of our favorite photos from the entire trip during this time. There is something so peaceful and serene about sunrise, when the world is still quiet and the cruise ships have yet to dock.
Lastly, I wouldn’t recommend renting a car or a quad unless you really plan on doing a lot of driving outside of the town. We only left Oia twice, and the hotel called a driver for us. The roads can be windy and narrow, and it was much less stressful having someone who knows the area well drive us.
It’s easy to see why this is the best luxury hotel in Santorini, with its unique architecture, spacious plunge pool, and the finest view on the entire Island. It truly is a hidden gem and bucket list worthy.
