Zlatni Rat: Europe’s Most Beautiful Beach

Zlatni Rat Beach, also known as Golden Horn Beach, is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean, and is regularly listed as one of the top beaches in Europe.

Zlatni Rat

Visiting Zlatni Rat Beach was on the top of our list when we visited Croatia. The easiest way to get to the island of Brač is to take the ferry from Split, which is just under an hour long.

Our ferry dropped off at the town of Supertar. From there, we hailed a taxi to Bol which is about a 45 minute drive.

We scheduled for the taxi driver to pick us up when we were finished, as there are not may taxis near the beach area. This ensured we’d be back in time to catch the ferry back to Split.

Alternately, there are busses and trains if you do not wish to spend the money on a taxi.

We were here during July which is high season, so it was pretty busy.

The water was crystal clear, calm, and relatively warm, so we were able to swim.

There are lounge chairs available to rent, and in the wooded area are lots of little restaurants, food stands, and restrooms.

One thing I wish I knew before visiting is that Zlatni Rat beach is not sandy. It is made up of tiny little pebbles and sea shells, which is great for keeping the water so clear, but painful on the feet. I would highly recommend bringing water shoes so you can explore the beach more easily.
