10 Best Restaurants in Tenerife

After living in Southern Tenerife for 3 months (and going out to eat daily), I have compiled a list of the 10 best restaurants in Tenerife. They range from casual to fancy, with an array of different cuisines, some offering gluten-free options as well. So if that sounds good to you, then please continue reading!

Breakfast/Brunch Spots

Hemingway’s Cafe

First on my list of best restaurants in Tenerife is Hemingway’s Cafe, which is located in Costa Adeje. They’re open every day of the week for brunch and lunch, except for Tuesdays, and on Sundays they offer a Sunday roast which you have to book ahead for.

My favorite thing to order is their avocado toast, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. They also offer a wide variety of smoothies and coffee drinks, all of which have been amazing. Plus their presentation style is always Instagram worthy.

Bloom Bar & Brunch

Another noteworthy brunch spot is Bloom, especially if you are into bottomless brunch. €25 will get you unlimited drinks from their brunch club menu from 10am-1pm daily.

Of course this is not the only option, so if bottomless isn’t your style don’t worry! We opted not to do it, and just decided to order off their breakfast and brunch menu.

My boyfriend ordered the mixed berry waffles, and I ordered the Bloom poached eggs and avocado with hollandaise sauce. Both were delicious, bonus points for the crispy bacon.

Wakanda Terrace Lounge

We were initially drawn to Wakanda because of the name (my boyfriend is super into Marvel), and because the design of the restaurant was fun and tropical. There was always plenty of seating, and it was affordable, which is why I’ve added it to my list of best restaurants in Tenerife.

They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch options, as well as a gluten-free menu. However since we were here during restricted travel, many of the gluten-free options were not available as they were not busy enough to offer the full menu.

Since we only lived right around the corner, this was often one of our go-to spots. We also liked how it was all outdoor seating, so we could people watch and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Lunch & Dinner Spots

Flo’s Tenerife

Flo’s is a fun surfer-friendly healthy food and bar located in Playa de Las Americas.

It offers a simple outdoor seating area, and the atmosphere is very chill and low-key, making it a perfect place to come after the beach.

I would highly recommend their Thai style chicken salad and their smoothies. We’ve also tried their chili con carne wrap which was phenomenal as well.

If you opt for a smoothie, they are quite large and could even qualify as a meal if you aren’t starving.

Restaurant 88

Restaurant 88 is a luxury oriental restaurant that specializes in dim sum and sushi. We came here after an overwhelming amount of recommendations, and we were not disappointed. They are the sister restaurant to Bloom and Lagarto Brasserie (which I’ll talk about next), and are located in La Caleta.

The restaurant features a beautiful indoor as well as outdoor dining area, with prime ocean views. We started with a steamed dim sum basket, and I ordered the Singapore Vermicelli dish as my main. This restaurant fills up fast, so I’d recommend booking ahead.

Lagarto Brasserie

I’ve come to Lagarto a couple times since being on the island. It’s a fun place to come with friends because the menu has something for everyone, and the cocktails are amazing.

They also have live music and the interior design is lovely. Lagarto is located just around the corner from Restaurant 88 and Bloom, which gives you the opportunity to explore the area and check out each menu at your leisure.

We started with the salmon tartare with king crab and avocado, and I ordered the rich boeuf bourguignon while Matt had the lamb shank.

Kai La Caleta

Kai is a modern Japanese Izakaya restaurant also located in the same neighborhood as Bloom, Restaurant 88 and Lagarto. It has one of the most beautiful interiors of any restaurant I’ve been to, and has several large booth areas which makes it great for groups.

We ordered the softshell crab and spicy creamy prawn to start, and shared the noodles with fillet steak as our main. The service was also prompt, friendly and overall excellent.

Fuel Restobar

If you are looking for healthy but filling options, then Fuel Restobar is the place for you.

Easily one of the most unique restaurants we’ve been to on the island, Fuel is situated beside a sports club and wellness center, and even has a small outdoor play area for children.

They do monthly themes and are always redecorating the restaurant, which keeps it interesting. My go-to is the tierra salvaje fuel bowl, while Matt enjoys their wraps.

Ristorante Pizzaria La Piazzetta

La Piazzetta is an amazing pizza and pasta restaurant located in Los Cristianos. We’ve tried several pizza places since being on the island, and nothing compares to La Piazzetta’s brick oven pizzas. What initially drew me to this restaurant was the fact that they offer gluten-free pizza and pasta options upon request. So I didn’t have to feel like I was missing out on the brick oven pizza experience.

The other thing we loved about this place was the prices, they cannot be beat! Everything was super affordable and good portion sizes. We normally order the 33cm diavola pizza, which is the perfect size to share between two people. They also offer an 80cm size, which is great for larger groups.

Abordo

We came to Abordo on our very first night in Tenerife because we were craving some quality seafood and they had excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.

The seafood was very fresh, and they have display cases and tanks so you can view all the options in person.

I ordered the lobster, which was presented beautifully, and Matt had the seabass.

The staff was also very friendly and the service was quick, which made it all the more enjoyable.

Tenerife has so much to offer in the way of food and restaurants, and these are just some of my favorites. Hopefully this 10 Best Restaurants in Tenerife guide will help you on your future restaurant selection!
