A Seafood Experience Like No Other: Caniço Restaurant Bar in Alvor, Portugal

It’s no secret Portugal is known for their world renowned seafood. Pair that with a showstopping view and it can’t get much better than that. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Caniço Restaurant on my birthday, and let me tell you, both the meal and the view were top tier. Let’s dive into what Caniço has to offer, and why it needs to be on your Algarve bucket list.
The Menu
The menu at Caniço Restaurant Bar features a variety of fresh seafood. Once you’re seated, the staff or the chef will come around with a platter of freshly caught seafood, allowing you to make your selection. This makes the whole experience feel much more luxe and custom.
Every dish is beautifully presented and made with the highest quality ingredients, from the local catch of the day to the succulent grilled octopus. The menu changes often, but rest assured, each dish is equally as delicious as the next. Don’t forget to ask for a recommendation on which wine will pair best with your meal!
For our mains, I chose the lobster, and Matt went with a fish. Each dish was made with the freshest ingredients, and was cooked to perfection.
The chef came out and actually prepared my lobster right in front of me, which was a unique and custom touch. All the while making conversation with us about our travels.
Service and View
The view at Caniço Restaurant Bar simply stunning. We were fortunate enough to have the best seats in the house overlooking the sea, and it was a sight to behold. From here, we witnessed the sky change from blue to vibrant colors of sunset, while listening to the waves crash against the shore.
The service was all around phenomenal. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and extensive wine collection, and the food came out in a timely fashion. As I mentioned above, the chef made a point to speak to us personally and get to know us, as he did with all who dined in the restaurant. This was a personal touch that we appreciated.
As you can probably imagine, this was one of the highlights of my trip to the Algarve, and a must-visit destination for anyone who loves seafood. With its incredible views, delicious menu, and impeccable service, it’s no wonder this restaurant is considered one of the best seafood restaurants in all of Portugal. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening for two, or a fun night out with friends, Caniço Restaurant Bar is the perfect place for you! Be sure to book ahead of time, as it’s a very popular restaurant, and please note that they do not reopen until April 2023.
