Pestana Alvor Atlântico Hotel Review

Pestana Alvor Atlântico

Are you looking to book the trip of a lifetime to the Algarve in Portugal, but you’re on a budget? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Today I’m going to share my stay at Pestana Alvor Atlântico, situated in Alvor, Portugal. For those of you wanting to stay in close proximity to the beach but are watching your travel budget, this hotel offers an affordable base for your explorations.

Location

Located in the heart of the Algarve, the Pestana Alvor Atlântico is within walking distance of the beach. So, if you’re a fan of coastal strolls along the boardwalk or beachside relaxation, the location of this hotel makes it convenient for daily beach visits. Staying close to the beach was a top priority for us, and only being a 5 minute walk was ideal.

Amenities

The amenities at this hotel reflect its budget status, but there are a few highlights worth noting. An indoor pool is available, and there’s also a steam room and sauna on site. Unfortunately, during our visit, the sauna was out of commission – not a deal-breaker, but worth mentioning for those who count on these amenities.

The outdoor pool, shared with the Pestana beach villa rentals across the parking lot, offers an alternative to the beach. It also offers direct access to the beach boardwalk. If you want to stake out a spot on the beach, you can rent beach chairs at €15 for a half day or €20 for a full day.

One service that stood out was the offer of in-room massages. Having a professional massage service come to your room for some relaxation is certainly a nice and convenient touch.

The Hotel

Now let’s talk about the realities of a budget hotel. There were some clear signs of wear and tear. Cracked and peeling window frames were common sights, and parts of the faux wood flooring were discolored and warped. The bathrooms had a sporadic sewer smell, and the Wi-Fi was frustratingly slow and inconsistent. These issues didn’t ruin the trip, but they’re worth noting if these things might bother you.

our Room

We had been pleasantly surprised upon arrival when we were told we had been upgraded from the standard studio garden view (the cheapest room available) to a 1-bedroom superior apartment sea view on the top floor, which is their most expensive accommodations. A complimentary upgrade is always welcome, and in this case, it gave us some fantastic views of the ocean.

This provided us with more space, as the bedroom was a separate room. There was also a little kitchenette, seating area, sofa, and desk which was handy. We opted to pay an additional €15 for a safe to store all our valuables in. This is something I highly recommend you do no matter where to stay.

Conclusion

In summary, Pestana Alvor Atlântico offers a solid budget option in Algarve. It has some clear flaws, but it also has some perks, which for us outweighed the flaws. The staff was friendly and helpful, and overall the service was exceptional. If you’re considering a trip to the Algarve and need a cost-effective place to stay, it’s worth considering – just manage your expectations accordingly.

Safe travels on your next budget-friendly holiday!
